Payroll Compliance With Court Orders

I’m ready to hire DailyGC™ now.

Courts regularly issue special payroll-related orders to businesses, directing them to withhold pay from their employees’ paychecks. Most typically, these are child support orders, but sometimes they are wage garnishments, tax levies or other types of wage attachments. Knowing how to respond to these court orders is essential for every business, large or small. If your company fails to respond to the court order on time or fails to withdraw enough money, you (in addition to your employee) could become liable to the employee’s creditor. If you withdraw too much money from the employee, your company could become liable to the employee.

At DailyGC™, our small business lawyers have many years of experience working with payroll departments to ensure compliance with court orders and to avoid payment errors. We can review any existing orders that you are subject to, and help you to establish internal policies and procedures for handling court orders, including calendar systems that will minimize the potential for future mistakes.
